FDLREPORTER.COM SUNDAY, MARCH 7, 2021 3A Obituaries FOND DU LAC Richard D. Phillips, 91, passed away quietly on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the Woodlands Senior Park in Fond du Lac. He was born on June 30, 1929, in Fond du Lac, the son of Anton and Hulda Matta Phillips. Dick grew up in Crystal He was a graduate of Crystal Falls High School, Class of 1947. He served in the United States Army, in Korea during the Korean War from 1951-1952.

Following the war, he worked in the automobile industry in Detroit, MI. He began his long career withWisconsin Bell Telephone in Pitt in 1957, and retired in 1991. Throughout his life, Dick was an avid car enthusiast and an expert me- chanic, building his first car from spare parts at the age of 15. He went on to buy and restore several classic vehicles throughout the years. Raised in the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan, Dick returned many times over the years to visit friends and family.

He brought his children to the area several times a year, passing on his appreciation for the beauty and history of the UP. Dick was an expert marksman and enjoyed his time as a member of theWescot Club shooting range for many years, practicing his skills several times a week until very recently. Dick was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Rosendale, WI, VFW Crystal Legion Post and Telephone Pioneers. A devoted family man, Dick is survived by his children: Tony (Lois) Phillips of Baker, FL and Andrea (Dean) Sommer of Sun Prairie, his step son Larry (Marilyn) Zickert of Elkhart Lake, his sister Florence (John) Velluto of Marblehead, MA, his brothers: Tom (Peggy) Phillips of Casper, WY and John (Linda) Phillips of Fond du Lac, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wifeMarion Phillips, his broth- er Jim Phillips, his step daughter Ann Yakaites and step son Brian Zickert.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude toAgnesianHos- piceHope and theWoodlands for their caregiving, compassion and kindness. VISITATION: Friends may call on Friday, March 12, 2021 from 10:30 11:00 AM at Kurki Funeral Chapel Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac. Masks are required for those in attendance. Phillips FOND DU LAC Dennis ClemZylka, 80, resident of Willow Lane Beach Road, Fond du Lac, passed away with his children by his side on February 19, 2021.

He was born on April 4, 1940 in Milwaukee. A son of the late Raymond and Marguerite Zylka. Dennis was a graduate of Messmer High School in Milwaukee, class of 1958. On May 7, 1960, he married the love of his life, Patricia A. Donohue (Pat).

Together they have 5 children: Todd, Kevin, and Vicki. Dennis started his career in trucking with Gate- way Transportation inMilwaukee. This took him to Fond du Lac where he became the Terminal Manager and retired with CCX Trucking. Dennis and Pat built their dream home on Lake Winnebago where he loved to fish, snowmobile, and watched the sunsets. Dennis also loved sports, most of all Nascar.

He was involved with his stock car racing which brought him much joy. Dennis also loved attending his sports, plays, and school ac- tivities. Dennis was amember of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. Survivors include his children, Robin (Dan) Peters, Gayle Konkle (Andy Gardipee), Todd (Linda) Zylka, Kevin (Cindy) Zylka andVicki (Mike) Kar- rels; 11 grandchildren, Dalton and Cole Peters, Josh Manis, Ryan (Megan) Manis, and Taylor (Aaron) Johnson, Justin Peterson and Corey Munsch, Shelby (Blake) Bryce, and Zachary Karrels; 4 great-grand- children, Dakota, Addison, Beau, Jackson and baby Johnson (on the way).

He is further survived by his two sisters, Raylene Gurjanow and Elaine Redlich; many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, his parents, his brother Kenneth Zylka, Zylka and Gurjanow and Ken Redlich. Service: The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, March 12, 2021 from at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 East Division St. A funeral service will be held following visitation at 5pm. Cremation has taken place; burial is later this spring at St.

John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery. Calvary, passed away at the Woodlands on March 2, 2021. Rose was born on May 18, 1937, daughter of Anton and Rosalia (Weh- ner) Nett. On September 29, 1954, shemarried Eu- gene Birschbach at St.Mary’s Church inMarytown. Rose always said she a good and she and Eugene were blessed with 59 years of marriage. Rose had a strong German work ethic and was a devoted wife and mother.

For many decades, she worked alongside Eugene in operating their century farm and then continued to oversee the agement following passing in 2013. Rose valued the tradition of hosting family gatherings at the farm and was an excellent cook and baking mentor. She spent much time lovingly preparing many delicious meals in her large farm kitchen, and she was well known for serving generously-sized dessert portions. Family was central to heart. She further enjoyed genealogy research, concerts at Buttermilk Creek Park, watching westerns, playing bingo, word searches, and listening to old polka tunes, especially those by Romy Gosz.

In recent years, Rose also came to value the special friendships she developed at the Woodlands. Rose is survived by her children, Debbie (Dennis) Schneider of St. Peter, Patty (Mike) Schneider of Malone, Bonnie (Rick) Schmitz and Cheryl (CT) Field, all of Fond du Lac; Gerald (Sherry) Birschbach of Townsend; son-in- law, Allen Schmitz of Pipe; twelve grandchildren: Phil (Kelly) Schmitz, Jess (Jennie) (KateLynn) Schneider, Tim (Jen) Schneider, Aaron (Melissa) Schneider, Tom Schmitz, David Schmitz, Jaryd Schmitz, Logan Field, Brittany (Justin) Patt, and Carissa Birschbach; seventeen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Birschbach; and many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene and daughter, Mary Ann--both of whom she missed dearly; two sisters, Lily Beck and Lyla Karls; two brothers, Jerry and Donald Nett; and sisters- and brothers-in- law: Owen Beck, Roger Karls, Florence Nett, Martha (Harold) Petrie, Alice (John) Wurtz, Germaine (Leander) Sabel, Harold (Marcella) Birschbach, James (Joan) Birschbach, Lester Birschbach, Nelson (Dolly) Birschbach, and Joan (Jerome) Diederichs. Oswald, age 91, of Valders, passed away unexpectedly Friday, March 5, 2021, at his residence. Eugene was born on July 19, 1929, in the town of Franklin, son of the late Frank and Anna (Muench) Oswald. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On August 16, 1950 he married the former Marjorie Ellig at St.

Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She pre- ceded him in death onNovember 10, 2010. Eugene worked at the Kohler Company until his retirement in 1992.He was amember of St. Thomas theApos- tle Catholic Church, Newton and a past member of the American Legion. Survivors include his five children: Diane (Gary) Kliment, Fond du Lac, Paul (Lori) Oswald, Two Rivers, Cindy (Don) Kalista, Manitowoc, Tim (Jean) Rick (Jodi) eleven grandchildren: Kacy (Ashley) Kliment, Krista (Ken)Ward, Paul (Julianne) (Matt) Holschbach, Jonathon Satterburg, Craig Oswald, Ashley Oswald, Brittany (Nate) Schultz, Rebecka (Alexandra) Oswald; twelve great-grandchildren: Harriet Kliment, Althea, Etta and Thad Ward, Austin Holschbach and his Hanah, Emma Holschbach, Allie Holschbach, Arianna Isley-Satterburg, Adalyn, Jackson and Haylee Geffers, Maximilian Oswald; one sister: Elaine Kutil, Two Riv- ers; one sister-in-law: Virginia Oswald, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
