Brackenhide Hollow Loot
Located in the Azure Span, the Brackenhide Hollow is World of Warcraft: Dragonflight's Gnoll-themed dungeon, centering around the cruel machinations of Decatriarch Wratheye and her followers. Filled with decayed plant life and vicious gnolls, the instance can be a real challenge to your party with incorrect pulls and pathing.
RELATED: World Of Warcraft: Dragonflight - Freehold Complete Dungeon Walkthrough
This guide will teach you the best way to navigate the Brackenhide Hollow, including which enemies to pull, their key abilities, and what items you might want to target from running the dungeon. Gather your party to complete Brackenhide Hollow with this dungeon guide.
Hackclaw Trash
Your goal in the primary section of Brackenhide Hollow is to open five Tuskarr Cages. This will activate the first boss and allow you to proceed. To begin your route, run onto the rock on your right side and jump over the wooden palisade. This will give you a nice skip into the central part of the first section and allow you to free Tuskarr with only a few trash pulls.
Watch out for the Brackenhide Warscourges, as their Hideous Cackle fear can easily lead to wipes in this part.
Enemy | Ability | Description | Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Bracken Warscourge x3 | Pack Tactics | Increases the damage of nearby enemies by 15 percent and their Haste by 25 percent. | These enemies will typically be your priority targets during a pull. |
Ragestorm | Spins for ten seconds, dealing high Physical damage in a small area. | Move out of the grey circle. | |
Hideous Cackle | Cast that causes all players to run in fear for four seconds. | This is a must-kick cast, or else you risk ninja-pulling other packs. | |
Bloody Bite | Deals Physical damage to a random player and gives them a 15-second Bleed that will be dispelled once they are above 90 percent health. | Heal the affected players up quickly to remove the DoT. | |
Decay Speaker x3 | Withering Burst | Deals Nature damage to all players and applies a stack of Withering, a disease that can keep stacking itself unless dispelled. | Make sure to dispel Withering as quickly as possible to prevent it from stacking up. |
Decay Surge | Standard Nature damage cast at a random player. | Throw any spare interrupts into this. | |
Rotchanting Totem | Empowers nearby enemies with decay magic. | These totems should be nuked down asap. | |
Claw Fighter x8 | Vicious Clawmangle | Chases a random player, mauling them for high Physical damage. | Either kite to avoid damage or use vanish effects such as Feign Death. |
Bloody Bite | Deals Physical damage to a random player and gives them a 15-second Bleed that will be dispelled once they are above 90 percent health. | Heal the affected players up quickly to remove the DoT. | |
Cruel Bonecrusher x5 | Crushing Smash | Tank buster that also slows movement speed by 30 percent. | Good time to use defensives. |
| |||
Trickclaw Mystic x9 | Earth Bolt | Standard Nature damage, cast at a random player. | Throw any spare interrupts into this. |
Witherbolt | If empowered by a nearby totem, Earth Bolt turns into an empowered version that also applies Withering to the player. | Nuking down the totems is the best way to prevent this cast. | |
Bonebolt Hunter x1 | Toxic Trap | Throws a trap to a player's location, which explodes on contact with any player, inflicting huge Nature damage and leaving behind a toxic puddle. | Avoid springing the trap at all costs, as it hits extremely hard. |
Bone Bolt | Randomly targets a player and applies a large Bleed alongside Physical damage. | Really nasty ability, so try to focus these enemies down or crowd control them. | |
Shoot | Fires at a random player for Physical damage. | None | |
Vicious Hyena x1 | Infected Bite | Tank buster that also applies a healing reduction effect. | These enemies have low health, so try bursting them down before the damage becomes too much. |
Scented Meat | These enemies will fixate any player targeted by this ability, with them also taking ticking Nature damage. | Crowd controlling these enemies is a good way of making sure they don't start fixating on your party. |
A handy item to look out for is the Decaying Cauldron, which can be activated by any player with at least 25 skill in the Alchemy profession. This will give each party member a chance to collect a Cleansed Rot, that can be used to dispel one application of a Disease.
Hackclaw's War-Band
The first boss is a council fight, with you having to contend with three enemies at once. Prioritise damaging Tricktotem, and be ready to switch to the Hextrick Totem once it spawns.
Be liberal with your personals and defensives, as Gash Frenzy can be very difficult for your healer to deal with. Once Tricktotem is dead, the fight becomes much easier, so kill off Gashtooth second.
Tricktotem | ||
---|---|---|
Ability | Description | Strategy |
Earth Bolt | Standard Nature damage cast at a random player. | Throw any spare interrupts into this. |
Greater Healing Rapids | Cast that heals an enemy for a large amount and applies a large HoT. | This is your priority interrupt. |
Hextrick Totem | Spawns a totem that incapacitates a player for 15 seconds. | Quickly nuke down this totem to free your player. |
Bloodfrenzy | If another Gnoll drops below 15 percent health, all enemies gain a permanent 30 percent health and damage buff. | This enemy is your top target to prevent totem spawns and this buff being applied. |
Rira Hackclaw | ||
| ||
Ability | Description | Strategy |
Bladestorm | Spins towards random players, dealing high Physical damage to any player in his radius. | Kite Rira out of the group and avoid the white circle. |
Savage Charge | Charges up a dash toward a player, colliding with them and dealing massive Physical damage. | Quickly free your Tank from Decayed Senses so that they can block this, or use an immunity to survive. |
Cleave | Riras' melee attacks cleave. | Don't stand in front of this enemy unless you are tanking. |
Gashtooth | ||
Ability | Description | Strategy |
Marked for Butchery | Chases a random player, mauling them for high Physical damage. | It is hard to effectively kite this ability, so use a personal defensive instead. |
Gash Frenzy | Dashes between players, hitting for low Physical damage but applying a Bleed that lasts for 45 seconds or until the player is healed above 90 percent health. | Very tricky ability on Tyrannical week, so try to use major healing cooldowns to top players and remove the Bleed. |
Decayed Senses | Blinds the Tank for 15 seconds and increases the damage taken. | This debuff should be dispelled by the Healer, but you will likely need to free them from the Hextrick Totem first. |
Treemouth Trash
After beating Hackclaw's War-Band, take the right fork and proceed up the hill. Here there will be lots of enemies, but most of them deal fairly low damage and there are many opportunities for big pulls. Focus on interrupts, dispels and dodging green swirlies and this section should be fairly smooth. Pull lots and build up your trash percentage before hitting Treemouth.
You will find more Decaying Cauldrons scattered throughout this path.
Enemy | Ability | Description | Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Brackenhide Shaper x10 | Summon Lashers | Spawns two Infected Lashers. | Cleave down the Lashers. |
Touch of Decay | Standard Nature damage cast that also leaves a Nature DoT. | Throw spare interrupts into this, but prioritise Infuse Corruption. | |
Infuse Corruption | Channels Withering stacks onto a random player. | Your priority interrupt, the Withering Disease can also be dispelled. | |
Decayed Elder x10 | Summon Lashers | Spawns two Infected Lashers. | Cleave down the Lashers. |
Decaying Roots | Roots a player, inflicting low nature damage and reducing their Haste over nine seconds. | Interrupt this so that the party is not hit by other mechanics. | |
Decaying Slime x11 | Burst | Explodes on death and leaves behind a pool of sludge. | Very low-health enemies, so cleave them down, avoiding the green pool. |
| |||
Wilted Oak x5 | Summon Lashers | Spawns three Infected Lashers. | Cleave down the Lashers. |
Necrotic Breath | Frontal cast that deals heavy Nature damage and reduces healing taken. | Long cast, so you should always be able to interrupt this, otherwise, dodge. | |
Stomp | AoE slam that stuns and deals Physical damage to any player hit. | Run out of the brown swirlie. | |
Essence of Decay | Periodically summons an Infected Lasher while in combat. | Cleave down the Lashers. | |
Fetid Rotsinger x3 | Pack Tactics | Increases the damage of nearby enemies by 15 percent and their Haste by 25 percent. | These enemies will typically be your priority targets during a pull. |
Burst of Decay | Fires a Nature damage cast that also hits nearby players. | Spread out to avoid being cleaved by this cast. | |
Decay Totem | Spawns a totem that periodically applies a stack of Withering to players. | Nuke down this totem asap. | |
Wild Lasher x17 | Bleeding | Applies a stacking Bleed to the Tank. | Very low health enemies so cleave them down. |
Infected Lasher x24 | Bleeding | Applies a stacking Bleed to the Tank. | Very low health enemies so cleave them down. |
Monstrous Decay x1 | Burst | Explodes on death and leaves behind a pool of sludge. | Avoid the big green pool. |
Gushing Ooze | Places green puddles at a random player's location, which deal Nature damage to anyone inside. | Dodge the green pools. |
Treemouth
Treemouth is a straightforward boss who should not dish out much damage, provided you execute his mechanics.
Set up a Consume rotation beforehand, so your team is aware of who will be consumed by Grasping Vines.
Pay attention to the Decayed Slimes as their cast can be a high source of damage. Interrupts and AoE crowd controls are great for stopping them in their tracks.
Ability | Description | Strategy |
---|---|---|
Decay Spray | Sprays at a random player, spawning four Decayed Slimes and four pools of decay. | Try not to aim this at other players, and immediately nuke down and interrupt the Decayed Slimes. |
Vine Whip | Whips the Tank in a big frontal. | Avoid the big white cone unless you are tanking. |
Grasping Vines | Drags all players towards the boss, consuming one of them at the end of the cast. | You should rotate which players are being consumed, as you will gain a debuff for one minute which will increase your Consume damage taken. |
Consume | Chews a player, applying a shield to itself and spitting out the player after ten seconds or if the shield is depleted. | Use a personal defensive or immunity if consumed. |
Infectious Spit | Spits at random players for low Nature damage. | Doesn't deal much damage. |
Gutshot Trash
After Treemouth, your intention should be to skip as much as possible. Proceed across the dungeon, taking the small right hill after killing Stinkbreath.
You can then narrowly avoid the two large patrolling packs before defeating the animals on the bridge to Gutshot. Take your time with the patrols, as they are especially nasty and could likely wipe you if suddenly pulled.
The two Skukling Gutstabbers are in stealth, so unless you have a Demon Hunter you might have to run forwards to pull them.
Pull Stinkbreath across to one side of the bridge, as his Violent Whirlwind has the potential to knock you down below, and you will want a bit of room to spread out for his disorient.
Enemy | Ability | Description | Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Stinkbreath x1 | Stink Breath | Breathes onto a random player in a frontal cone, dealing Nature damage and disorienting any player hit. | Spread out to avoid more than one player being hit by this. |
Violent Whirlwind | Similar to Ragestorm, spins in a small area, dealing high Physical damage. | Run out of the white circle. | |
Skulking Gutstabber x2 | Withering Poison | Jumps to a player and applies a hard-hitting Poison, which also slows their movement speed and Haste. | Dispel this Poison quickly. |
Bloody Bite | Deals Physical damage to a random player and gives them a 15-second Bleed that will be dispelled once they are above 90 percent health. | Heal the affected players up quickly to remove the DoT. | |
Gutchewer Bear x1 | Maul | Big Physical damage Tank buster. | Good time for a defensive. |
Fleshripper Vulture x2 | Screech | Cast that hits all players for Physical damage. | Long cast, so you can either interrupt or crowd control this enemy. |
Gutshot
The third boss of the dungeon is arguably the easiest. Most of her mechanics come from effectively kiting her Hyenas into the handily provided traps and avoiding taking damage from their melee attacks.
The Tank will take some decent damage from Gutshot, but otherwise, the healing requirement is very low, so prioritise your positioning.
Ability | Description | Strategy |
---|---|---|
Ensnaring Trap | Tosses two traps at random players. | Kite the Hyenas over these traps to immobilize and damage them. |
Master's Call | Increases all Hyena's movement speed and provides immunity to crowd control for 15 seconds. | Interrupt this asap. |
Meat Toss | Makes a player smell like meat, causing any active Hyenas to fixate on them. | If you are fixated, then it is your job to trap the Hyenas, not letting them get too close to you. |
Gut Shot | Tank buster that also knocks them back a fair distance. | Use a defensive and avoid standing too close to the cliff. |
Call Hyenas | Spawns two Hyenas. | The Tank should be ready to get immediate aggro on these. |
Wratheye Trash
After killing Gutshot, take the North bridge into the final section of the instance. Here there will be many enemies, some of which you will want to skip.
Make sure to stick close to one of the edges, as to not pull the quadruple Vile Rothexer pack, and make your way up the hill to Wratheye.
If you find yourself missing some percentage, you can always collect it after the boss, so depending on your Bloodlust timer, you may want to pull a little bit more or less before the final boss.
Enemy | Ability | Description | Strategy |
---|---|---|---|
Filth Caller x5 | Decay Surge | Standard Nature damage that is cast at a random player. | Throw any spare interrupts into this. |
Rotting Surge | Spawns patches of decay that deal large Nature damage on impact and leave behind a puddle of decay. | Avoid green swirlies and green puddles. | |
Wither Biter x12 | Bloody Bite | Deals Physical damage to a random player and gives them a 15-second Bleed that will be dispelled once they are above 90 percent health. | Heal the affected players up quickly to remove the DoT. |
Witherling x15 | Bloody Bite | Deals Physical damage to a random player and gives them a 15-second Bleed that will be dispelled once they are above 90 percent health. | Heal the affected players up quickly to remove the DoT. |
Bracker Warscourge x4 | Pack Tactics | Increases the damage of nearby enemies by 15 percent and their Haste by 25 percent. |
Disease Slasher x3 | Bloody Bite | Deals Physical damage to a random player and gives them a 15-second Bleed that will be dispelled once they are above 90 percent health. | Heal the affected players up quickly to remove the DoT. |
Decay Claws | Hits your Tank for Physical damage and applies a healing absorb. | A powerful ability that will require some major spot healing onto your Tank. Good time for a defensive. | |
Vile Rothexer x3 | Withering Contagion | Channels onto a random player, that applies a Disease that spreads to any player within five yards. | Spread out and avoid running into anyone with the green circle. Dispel asap. |
Wither Slasher x3 | Bloody Bite | Deals Physical damage to a random player and gives them a 15-second Bleed that will be dispelled once they are above 90 percent health. | Heal the affected players up quickly to remove the DoT. |
Decatriarch Wratheye
The final boss of Brackenhide Hollow is certainly the most challenging. In a fight that comes with a high burst damage requirement, you will want to put all of your resources into nuking down the Rotburst Totems before they can get their cast off.
On high keys, a single cast will spell disaster for your group, so make sure to use cooldowns and damage resources on them asap.
As a Tank, you can position Wratheye so that the totem spawns behind the path of the Rotcloud, which will give your melee a chance to damage it. When the boss casts Choking Rotcloud, simply move her across to the other side of the arena, and the Totem should always spawn in a good location.
Ability | Description | Strategy |
---|---|---|
Decaystrike | Hits your Tank for Physical damage and applies a healing absorb. | This hits very hard on Tyrannical weeks, so prioritise healing them up after application. Good time for a defensive. |
Choking Rotcloud | Spawns a cloud onto the Tank, that floats clockwise around the arena, applying a stack of Withering Rot to any player hit. | Avoid this at all costs. |
Rotburst Totem | Spawns a totem across the arena, which chain casts Rotting Burst. This will deal Nature damage to all players and apply a stack of Withering Rot. | Nuke down the totem asap. |
Decaying Strength | Deals damage to all players and consumes all stacks of Withering Rot, empowering herself for each stack. | This does cleave damage, so spread out and use personals to reduce the damage. |
